A Swedish Summer

Last summer we went to Sweden, and although our trip to Scotland was lovely, it feels like months ago. I’m desperate to go back to Scandinavia, and in a bid to bring a Scandinavian summer to London, today I made Nigella’s Swedish Summer cake.

It’s very creamy and was pretty fiddly, but YUM. I adore strawberries too, so I was totally sold. It’s the first bit of baking I’ve done in ages – things just keep getting in the way. I’ve also finally got round to starting to make the roman blind I’ve been meaning to do for ages – it’s amazing how lack of time focusses the mind.

Saturday was unfortunately spent sweltering in college listening to world’s dullest man, so it was lovely to be able to spend the evening sat on a balcony having a BBQ with some friends. They had new kittens too. I’m not normally a cat person, but they were SO cute!

Talking of Sweden, I would very much like this apartment please. Thank you.

Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend. xx

A Weekend in France.

A couple of weekends ago, we headed off on a road trip to Reims (east of Paris) for a friend’s wedding. A weekend of kinder eggs, Uno, champagne, cricket and food, lots and lots of food, ensued. It was ace. SO SO much fun.

And isn’t Shane’s suit amazing?! The cricket photos looked like they could have been taken about 80 years ago. Awesome. My dress was a birthday present (yep, I will get round to posting about that eventually!), and I love it. Quite different from other things I own too, which is always good!

The church was almost entirely derelict – there were birds nests hidden in holes and all sorts, but it was so pretty. There had to be someone inside at all times incase stuff got nicked, ha. Anyway – bring on the photos!

Back in Print.

I’m back! Turns out I am ethical and have (just) enough law knowledge to get through my first round of exams. Hurrah.

So after weeks of spending every evening learning about what you should do if you were to suspect a client of money laundering, I can finally get back to buying things, spending lots of time on the internet, sewing and cooking.

After leaving our flat at 7.30 yesterday morning to spend a couple of hours at the test centre (which was a slightly bizarre experience) – I was also desperate for coffee and apparently no coffee shops in London open until 9am on Saturday morning – we went to go and pick up our Fox and Polar Bear prints from Aubin and Wills. They are now residing on our spare bedroom/study wall, which I LOVE. We also managed to spend a fair amount of money on a throw with Moose on it and a wooden bear at SCP – eek!

I also finally picked up the feather print top and trousers in the Aubin and Wills sale that I’ve been coveting for the past couple of months. It’s so satisfying buying something you’ve had your eye on for a long time and even better when there’s money off! I love them and particularly that I can wear them separately too. Small issue in that the trousers aren’t overwhelmingly flexible, making curling up on the sofa slightly precarious…

Anyway, hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend. A few of my favourite things of the week below:

- Fascinating set of posts about working mothers

- Really want to try this cocktail out

- Love this top photo and the back of the dress

- An amazing table

- I’d love a kitchen overhaul, making it look like one of these

Comic Me.

Hello everybody! I’m sorry for being such a poor blogger. I have lots to tell including epic birthday presents (Miu Miu swimsuit!) and a mini-trip to France but my head is currently saturated with tax law and I’m struggling to function properly. Normal service will resume shortly.

In the meantime, my lovely boyfriend just commissioned this awesome portrait of me! As in actually, less than 24 hours ago, and it’s finished already! It was done by the uber-talented Len Peralta and I absolutely love it!

And other things I’ve been loving on the web this week:

  • This beautiful outside wedding – totally obsessed with the dessert table
  • Jo’s braids (please check out her blog – it’s stunning)
  • I love stationery – and this is my favourite notecard of the week
  • Just looking at this post of incredible ice cream makes me feel hungry
  • And finally, I am totally having Mad Men withdrawal symptoms – new series please.

Mulberry.

I have always wanted a Mulberry bag, but despite dropping money very readily on dresses, shoes and everything clothes-like in between, handbags are something I really struggle to buy. Even though on a price per use basis a beautiful Mulberry bag would be a total bargain compared to most things I own, I haven’t yet managed the initial outlay. You’ll have noticed that every outfit post of mine pretty much uses the same bag…

Anyway, the point of this story is that I have just stumbled across the Mulberry Fall 2011 campaign. Foxes, gorgeous bags and Tim Walker, what’s not to like?!
