Birthday Picnic.

Another year has passed and I’m starting to get unnervingly close to 30. To celebrate, we had picnic in the gardens, complete with lots of Pimms and white wine. It was fun.

We actually started the day by heading to the Ballgown exhibition at the V&A, I was expecting to love it but somehow it fell a bit short. I’m not sure whether it was due to the slightly odd lighting, a somewhat ‘meh’ selection of gowns or that it was absolutely teeming with people, but it didn’t really live up to my expectations. We did however follow it up with a trip to the Animal Inside Out exhibition at the natural history museum. It was a bit gruesome but I can’t recommend it highly enough – it was fascinating and brilliantly presented!

Tom excelled himself this year and I have lots of beautiful new things which will make appearances over the next few weeks. I am particularly enamoured with my new APC shirt. I’ve had SUCH a lovely weekend – what have you all been up to?

Sunshine and Buttonholes.

Oh my goodness me – where has this beautiful weather come from?? Here’s hoping it stays put (particularly on my holiday in a couple of weeks please!). To make the most of it this weekend, we headed to Kew Gardens on Saturday morning. As ever, it was completely beautiful and the cakes insanely delicious.

I’m really pleased with this shirt – it’s the Banksia top from Megan Neilsen and apart from the fact that I really stupidly made the buttonholes horizontal rather than vertical so the placket doesn’t sit straight, d’oh, it came out really well. So I have lots of plans to make more, especially as I don’t seem to be able to pass a week without buying new fabric….!

Have a lovely week everybody!! x

Hello Spring.

Oh my! The sun has arrived and London, you’re looking beautiful.

Hibernation.

Sorry for almost disappearing off the face of the planet – in exactly one week’s time I will be back to my normal blogging, photo taking, going places & sewing self. Just 7 more days of burying my head in books and the highlight of my day being going to the gym.

But look! I did leave the house a couple of weeks ago, albeit wearing a somewhat Bavarian outfit and feeling a little like I was in the ‘Sound of Music’….

My oh my last weekend feels like a long time ago. What a beautiful weekend it was though. We started by a fairly amusing trip to the ‘Entertainment and Media Show’ at Earls Court. It was something verging on Geek Heaven. Even Darth Vader was there (although I have only actually seen the first Star Wars. Ahem). Besides, it was worth it just to see abandoned Stormtrooper outfits. Ha.

But yes, that there in the photo below is Luna Lovegood.

We came back with a few miniature props for The Fox and The Polar Bear, but not a lot else. I’ll be honest though, I’m pretty sad I don’t own the Alexander Skarsgard mug.

After deciding that we probably ought to spend some time outside in the SUNSHINE, we went for a walk along the Thames and finished up with lobster, shrimps and cocktails at the Big Easy. You don’t get much better than that.

Green Trousers and See-through Shirt(s).

Following on from last week’s chocolate mousse recipe, I would have blogged the pretty awesome carrot cake I made on Sunday, except it’s Tuesday and it’s virtually all gone. Sorry – maybe next time?

Instead I bring you a see-through shirt! I’m rather pleased it doesn’t look quite as sheer in the photos as it did in real life…. somehow it’s scarier on a screen with lots of people actually looking. I’m super pleased with these green trousers though, I bought them a couple of weeks ago and pretty much haven’t taken them off since.

We went shopping in central London on Saturday too for the first time in ages. I finally got my hands on some of the Ornithology Liberty fabric. I can’t wait to get sewing again once my exams are over.

If I may: a small Ode to my shoes. APC I <3 you.

We went to see Slow Club last night. Truly awesome, particularly when they stood in front of the mics and sang Christmas TV to Shepherds Bush. Although we were a little disappointed there was no “Apples & Pears” (which I have been trawling Youtube for, but it wont let me post a video). Anyway – GO LISTEN, THEY’RE ACE. xx
